Who Are We?

Kanine Krunchies was founded in 2017 by a young university student with a dream of helping change as many lives of rescue animals as she could, but with very little resources to do so. Along with her puppy sidekick, Edgar Allan Pug, she began baking homemade, organic dog-treats and donating a portion of her proceeds each month to different animal rescue organisations in South Africa.

Soon this small budding business began growing, and through the power of social media, dedication and a little bit of hard work-the KKSA Krunchie Krew community was built. Over the past few years a community of over a thousand people have come together to follow the adventures of Larissa and Eddie as they meet and help both human and animal welfare organisations, rescue/foster animals that need help share advice on pet care and pet lifestyle in South Africa, and try spread a little bit of kindness in the world through KKSA.

KKSA is a business with a mission- it was  designed not only to help pet parents provide the best possible products and care to their beloved pets through our product offerings, pet lifestyle blogs and social media posts, but also  to highlight the important role that animal welfare organisations play in society. We aim to provide “Wholesome treats for pawsome pets” and endeavour to holding up the high standard that is associated with our organic, preservative-free treats.

As part of our mission we also endeavor to donate a portion of our proceeds each month to local animal welfare organisations in order to assist them in carrying out their mandate of bettering the lives of animals in SA.

Our vision is to be a leading platform for animal lovers and pawrents to visit in order to stock up on our range of products but also to interact with others in our community and learn and grow. We would like to become a leading independent pet lifestyle blog and brand in South Africa.

What difference have we made?

Since its inception in 2017, KKSA has managed to donate over R30 000 in cash and kind to over 30 various animal welfare organisations in SA! From doggos, to kitties, to bunnies, birds and everything in between, we have managed to make a difference to the tiny lives of hundreds of animals.

We regularly donate excess stock, misshapen biscuits, and facilitating the donation of items between local businesses and some of the rescues that we help. We also get plenty of rescue related questions and queries where people need help with furbabies and we help where we can.

Some of our beneficiaries-Serendipitty Pitbull Rescue, KZN Valley Dogs, Phoenix Animal Care and Treatment, Stray Paws Rescue, Wagging Tails Rescue, Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming, Project Dog Durban, Funding the Voiceless, Fallen Angels Bird Sanctuary, CROW, Bunville Rabbit Rescue, Kitty Care Durban, as well as our local SPCAs!

We have also assisted in many human welfare projects-from assisting with projects at Baby Hope House in Pinetown and Fulton School for the Deaf in Gillitts with our friend Muhammad Adamjee, a local horticulturist, to sponsoring Christmas gifts and visiting the babies at Hope House and Thandi House in Chase Valley, PMB.

“What you do makes a DIFFERENCE, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
